Minor League Baseball, The Post Office and Other Random Tidbits

We went to a Staten Island Yankees game last Friday, the Staten Island team is the Yankees Class-A team. Class A is pretty much the lowest rung on the baseball ladder. It was kind of fun watching, although probably only 2-3 of the players we saw that night might make it to the big show. Some other tidbits from the game on Friday night, apparently being at Single A game gets you Single A service, my buddy and I waited almost an inning and a half on the concession stand line and there were only 5 people ahead of us. Going by what we saw on Friday night the majority of Staten Island is Italian, there were some interesting characters at the ballpark that night, none more so than the old lady who told one of my friends that he was talking to loud. I've been to hundreds of ballgames in my life and I have never heard that one before. Un-freaking-believable.

Had to run to the post office today during lunch, the post office on Columbus and 67th is always an experience. I walked in there, go to the automated machine which of course was out of service so I go on the line which was only 4 people deep, sweet. I've never seen it less than 15 people so I thought it must be my lucky day. Not so fast. I'm waiting and I see that this woman at the counter is shipping a rather large box and a suitcase. Yes, a suitcase. I mean who brings a suitcase to the post office? So it takes 3 postal workers about 5 minutes to decide if this is something that they can handle while I notice that the line is quickly growing. This post office has about 8 windows, 4 of them were open the other 4 were closed but had 3 workers at there windows talking about God knows what. Finally after waiting close to 15 minutes I get up, take care of my business and am done in less than 2 minutes. You have to love the U.S. Postal Service. No wonder the 2 most famous postal workers are Cliff Claven & Newman.

Its been hot as hell over here, tomorrow and Wednesday its going up to the 100's. I just love New York City in the summer.
