Random Thoughts

Yesterday on Good Day New York they had a whole thing about people giving up there seat on the subway or bus and under what circumstances they do so. Now, usually if I see an older person, a disabled persons, pregnant woman or someone with kids I offer my seat. Sometimes I'll offer my seat to a woman if I'm in a good mood...well coming into work today a bunch of people get off at a stop and I was about to take a seat but saw a lady who was coming into the car and eyeing the seat so I stopped and let her take the seat and she takes it and no thank you or even a nod. I'll remember her, next time she can stand.

On another note the WBC is starting next week, I have to say that its losing it's luster because so many top players are not playing. I'll still be watching because I'm too much of a baseball nut not to watch, hopefully it'll still be good.

It's finally Friday, now if the weather could just get nice again everything will be perfect.

I'd almost believe this:

Alex Rodriguez Pulls Out Of World Baseball Classic Because Everyone Else Is Doing It
February 9, 2006

NEW YORK—Citing concern that his fellow major-leaguers would consider him an outcast and overachiever, Alex Rodriguez announced Wednesday that he will not take part in the increasingly unpopular World Baseball Classic. "The Classic seemed like it would be a great opportunity to represent my country and give baseball unprecedented worldwide exposure; that is, back when everyone else said they were going to be in it, too," said Rodriguez, who watched as stars like Barry Bonds, Nomar Garciaparra, and John Smoltz withdrew from the tournament in recent weeks. "When most of the other guys tentatively said they would participate, I thought that playing was a good decision, but after seeing my heroes like the great Mariano Rivera bow out, I am now sure that this is the right, and popular, thing to do." Rodriguez added that, even though the World Baseball Classic "is for losers," he wouldn't rule out playing in the tournament if enough of his friends decide to reconsider their withdrawal.

The Week In Pictures

Its time for another segment of the week in pictures. A 40 at the Super Bowl Party, Westside view of Manhattan, Sculpture at the LC, King Henrik, My new sneakers, Broken street light, the Ticket Bowl.

Let's Go Rangers

I wrote this on my old blog 3 months ago:

"I'm still very impressed with what I'm seeing from the Rangers. This team has a very different feel to it than teams from the past. Keep an eye on these guys"

I went to 2 games this past week and 2 big wins, Rangers are only 4 points behind the 1st place team in the conference. I can see this team going far so it might be a good time to start jumping on the bandwagon.

Super Bowl and 113

Its finally Friday although today is totally dragging. The Super Bowl is on Sunday, finally because I don't know how much more of the hype I can stand listening to. Anyways, I haven't checked today but I believe the Steelers are favored by 4 points. I say take Pittsburgh and the over on the 47 points.

A big story going on over here in NYC is that a girl on high school basketball team scored 113 points, the team won by something like 80 points. So the debate started as to if the coach did the right thing by leaving this girl in there to keep racking up points. Some people say he did, most say he didn't. I'm on the side of those that said that he didn't. I don't fault the girl, she's on the court so she's going to do what she has to do but why kick a team when they're down? When you're in the 3rd quarter and up by 50 you can't put in the 2nd string team and get them some playing time? I'm all for winning but at what cost? I don't know, if I were in a team and we were getting killed and the other team kept running up the score, you can rest assured that a message would be sent next time that person came sashaying down the lane, or came up to bat or going up the middle to make a catch. Alright, enough of that.

The weekend is finally here, the Rangers are in 1st place and the Dominican team is off to 1-0 start in the Caribbean Series. Here's to a great weekend.

How Low & Key to Detroit

To no one's surprise the Knicks lost again last night. They got blown out by 33 by the Lakers. How bad are the Knicks? Most fans, myself included, and many in the media were upset that Kobe only scored 40 points.

The Super Bowl is this Sunday in Ford Field in Detroit, I spent a couple of less than glamorous days in Detroit last year. Definitely not my favorite place in the world. Anyways, Steelers running back Jerome Bettis who is originally from Detroit got the key to the city this week. The last individual to get the key to Detroit?
Saddam Hussein. I wish I were making this up.
